Ask a Question
5/18/2017 – In this new addition is there an answer key? It is the deciding factor for us. We'd like to order if thereis a key
Response From The HSLDA Store: We will provide you the answer key upon special request. When you place your order, leave us a note on the payment page requesting the answer key and we'll be glad to email it to you.
3/31/2015 – Has the text been updated since 2013? I used it for 2013-24 school year and my students had noticed some mistakes.
Response From The HSLDA Store: They are actually in the process of reviewing, updating and editing this course right now. This will be a rather extensive process and will most likely take several months to complete. As soon as it has been updated we will make sure there is a note put in the store so folks know that it's been updated.
3/18/2015 – Can the iCitizen Civic Literacy course be used to fulfill my state's 1/2 credit American Government requirement?
Response From The HSLDA Store: Melissa,
Yes, the iCitizen course would count as 1/2 credit!
2/3/2015 – I'd like to purchase this, but not have my son start it until Summer as a study course. Can we set a start date for the year to begin/is it only a year from date of purchase that the student has to complete the course?
Response From The HSLDA Store: The iCitizen course expires a year from the date of purchase.
6/16/2014 – We have two children needing to take the course during the same semester. Will we need to purchase two of the iCitizen curriculum, or will one purchase allow two siblings to register separately and each be able to take the tests?
Response From The HSLDA Store: You're free to use the curriculum within your family as you see fit, but if you’d like each student to be able to take the quizzes, you’ll need to purchase two.
5/12/2014 – Is this similar even redundant to the Constitutional Law and Constitutional Literacy curriculum?
Response From The HSLDA Store: The iCitizen curriculum is quite different from our Constitutional Literacy curriculum. Where the Constitutional Literacy program focuses on the Constitution itself and its proper interpretation, iCitizen provides a broader education in American citizenship, including studies in political theory, other founding documents, state and local governance, foreign policy, economics, and our two-party system.
1/10/2014 – I may have missed it, but is this a one semester course?
Response From The HSLDA Store: You are given a year access to the quizzes online. But iCitizen can be taken as a single semester course or spread out over two.
8/19/2013 – Since this is only a half credit course, can you recommend a suitable course to go along with it without being redundant that will give a full credit all together?
Response From The HSLDA Store: We suggested that parents could include Dr. Farris’ Constitutional Literacy DVDs and assignments/study guide to bring it to a full credit.
This civics course is meant to be an introduction to our country’s governmental system and the citizen’s response to that.
8/14/2013 – When I purchase this course, is the $30 member price for members of HSLDA or only for Gen. Joshua members?
Also, is there any particular time constraint on how long my child has to complete this course and can the course be reused by siblings in subsequent years?
Thank you!
Response From The HSLDA Store: The $30 is for GenJ or HSLDA members.
Yes, the course is a one year course and the subscription expires after 1 year. If you plan on having a student take the course a subsequent year, you would need to purchase a subscription again.
7/25/2013 – Adding to the question about an answer key for the review questions...if you are concerned about having the answers to the review questions online where the students would be able to access them, have you thought of just having that portion of the curriculum printed and mailed to the parents when they register their child for the class?
Response From The HSLDA Store: We are not planning on crafting an answer key for the review questions. A number of questions ask for subjective responses on the part of the student (for example, “which of the three theories of government do you ascribe to, and why?”), while others admit an large number of legitimate responses (such as “what similarities and differences do you see between the above classifications of government?”). There are other questions where Christians could legitimately disagree with each other and we would rather allow the parents or a trusted teacher guide the student than give an official answer ourselves.
7/15/2013 – Based upon the recent customer review (a complaint), did iCitizen produce an answer sheet or key?
Response From The HSLDA Store: At this time, no.
If you go back into a quiz that you have taken, it will show you which answers you got wrong and what the correct answer was.
7/7/2013 – Is there an answer key for post test review?
Response From The HSLDA Store: If you go back into a quiz that you have taken, it will show you which answers you got wrong and what the correct answer was.
8/10/2012 – I am an HSLDA member. I am interested in the iCitizen course for my 9th and 10th graders. I understand it is an online course but can the chapters and tests be downloaded and printed out? Or does all work need to be done on computer?
Response From The HSLDA Store: While there is not a print edition at this time, the entire text of iCitizen, the syllabus, and the glossary can be printed as PDFs (about 300 single-side pages) should your student prefer to read iCitizen on paper. The quizzes and final exam are the only component that is "online only."
