7/22/2017 – What is your recommendation for taking iCitizen and Constitutional Literacy (using both workbook & DVD) both in the same year for a 9th grader? Should one be taken before the other or can they be taken together? I understand iCitizen is only one semester (.5 HS credit) while Constitutional Literacy is a full year (1.0 HS credit) using both DVD and workbook, correct?
Response From The HSLDA Store: Yes, iCitizen is a semester long course and the Constitutional Literacy is a full year course. As you are the parent/teacher, you will know best what your student can handle. The courses are not intended to be taken together but your student could certainly do them simultaneously. If you chose to do one before the other, I would recommend the iCitizen first. The iCitizen covers a very broad range about our government (and includes a small section on the Constitution), whereas the Constitutional Literacy focus's solely on the Constitution.
9/2/2015 – Are there quizzes or tests available for the Constitutional Literacy Workbook? Thank You.
Response From The HSLDA Store: There are Study Questions throughout each lesson. On page 12 of the workbook there is a link to the answers key online.
7/7/2015 – Is this course lacking content for a traditional US Government high school credit? If so what would still need covered?
Response From The HSLDA Store: This course only covers the US Constitution and does not cover the whole US Government. However, When all three resources are used for a course (DVD, workbook, and Constitutional Law for Enlightened Citizens Textbook), it is a full year high school government course at the College Prep or Honors level of instruction. When the DVD is used with either of the books, it is a full year high school government course at a normal level of high school instruction.
When using the Constitutional Law text with the DVD series, a syllabus is available that matches the chapters in the book to the episodes on the DVD series (simply reply to this email with your request for the syllabus). When using the Apologia text, each chapter corresponds exactly with the DVD lecture of the same number.
4/7/2015 – Has anyone done an 'Intensive' course using this Curriculum? Let's say 2-3 weeks at 2 lessons per day in a co-op setting? I'm hoping to do this in August and looking for feedback on whether that would be too rushed? -or still a valuable course? Thank you!
Response From The HSLDA Store: Dear Tracy,
We have not heard of anyone doing this course as an intensive course. I'm sure it would still be quite valuable.
8/30/2014 – Is it possible to see a few sample pages or table of contents for this workbook so that I can decide if I would like to add this to our DVD series? Thanks.
Response From The HSLDA Store: Yes. Go ahead and click on the link in the product description for the workbook: http://store.hslda.org/constitutional-literacy-workbook-p700.aspx
7/2/2014 – I have the first edition DVD's. Will this book coordinate with those as well?
Response From The HSLDA Store: Yes, except for chapters 5 and 25 will be have some material that is not covered in the 1st edition.
6/24/2014 – Is this workbook coordinated with the 2nd edition DVD series?
Response From The HSLDA Store: Yes, the workbook is coordinated with the 2nd edition DVD series!
