3/25/2018 – We just finished watching the Constitutional Literacy series, and it mentioned there was a way to send the series to your congressman for cheaper. I cannot find the option to do this, is it still there?
Candace (daughter of Karen) Fox
Response From The HSLDA Store: Candace,
If you can give our office a call (540)338-8670, or send an email to sales@hslda.org we will be happy to go over this with you!
10/8/2013 – I purchased these DVDs and am using them in a homeschool co-op. Do I need a special license or permission to do this? I am sorry I neglected to even think of this question before the school year started.
Response From The HSLDA Store: You are more than welcome to show these DVDs in a homeschool Co-op!
5/24/2012 – Are these DVD's subtitled or closed captioined? I'm hearing impaired. Thank you!
Response From The HSLDA Store: No, this DVD set does not have closed caption or subtitles.
9/17/2011 – Is this course comparable to a high school level civics course, and is it enough to earn high school credit.
Response From The HSLDA Store: The Constitutional Literacy DVD runs approximately 8.5 hours, and could be used as a supplement to a course. would not be enough hours to be considered a full course. One credit would need 120 hours, ½ credit would be 60 hours.
6/8/2011 – Is this course in Constitutional Literarcy suited to an 8th grade student who has a deep interest in politics and government?
Is there written work to correspond to the instruction?
Response From The HSLDA Store: Yes! Absolutely! While this course is intended for highschool and above, anyone with enough interest and desire to learn the material ought to be able to understand and appreciate the series. The goal of this video series is to bring the constitution and its principles to life for the viewer and would likely be an ideal place for your 8th grade student to really begin to delve into Constitutional Law.
There is an accompanying Constitutional Literacy Workbook available from our store.
6/7/2011 – Is this product designed to be the basis for a high school level course? Are suggested readings, review questions,and/or essay prompts included? Also, is this video a series of lectures and/or interviews with Michael Farris, or a documentary narrated by Mr. Farris?
Thank you.
Response From The HSLDA Store: This project is designed with multiple goals in mind. First and foremost, it is designed as a general course for highschool through adults to become constitutionally literate. It would be perfect as a starting point to any highschooler's study of Constitutional law, however it is not strictly a "course" in that there are no readings, review questions, essay prompts, or tests. Rather, if you desire to use it in a course format, it would be ideal to combine it with Dr. Farris's existing course material.
What makes this product unique is its emphasis on making the material approachable. Rather than simply throwing information at the viewer, this series of 25 lectures presented in documentary/lecture fashion integrates high quality audio and video footage, hundreds of beautifully animated photographs, countless timelines that bring the history to life, narration, and special effects that cause the material to be visually stimulating and engaging.
