Who can rent the tests? |
The Brigance tests may be rented by HSLDA members only. If you are homeschooling and are not yet a member, you are welcome to join for access to the Brigance tests and support from HSLDA's educational consultants. Brigance tests are also available for purchase on CurriculumAssociates.com |
How long can I keep the test? Can I have it longer to test multiple children? |
You may keep the test for ten (10) days from the time you receive it. If you are testing multiple children, you may keep the test for fourteen (14) days. Please speak with Tiffany Mackey to make arrangements, in advance, if you need an extension. |
What are the tests for and which test should I use? |
Brigance tests are used by parents and professionals to determine what skills a child has or has not mastered. These tests are used routinely in public and private schools to develop student goals and objectives. The following Brigance tests are available for rent to HSLDA members: |

Can I use the Brigance test to fulfill my state's testing requirements? |
The Brigance assessment kits HSLDA rents out to members are not standardized/norm-referenced assessments, so they may not meet your state's standardized testing requirement. To see your state's requirements for testing (if any), click here. |
Do you grade the test?
Student
record books are graded by the parents and should be maintained in your
homeschool file. Please do not send in your child's student booklet when you
return the test. |
If I rent multiple tests at one
time, can I keep the tests longer?
No. If you would like to rent
multiple tests and don't think you will be able to complete both tests in the
normal testing period, we suggest you rent the tests at separate times. This
will allow you more time to complete each test.
Are the Brigance tests only for children with special needs? |
No! Public and private schools often administer the Brigance tests to children with IEPs, but these tests can be beneficial for all students, including gifted learners. They are especially useful for parents who are new to homeschooling and not sure where to begin or for veteran homeschoolers looking for an informal, in-depth assessment to determine subject mastery or grade placement. |
